Getting back to “normal”
Returning to work — even if it’s not to the same job you held before your disability — is about more than receiving a paycheck. It can help you rebuild confidence, restore a sense of purpose and create belonging. Working can also have positive effects on your physical and mental health.
What happens next depends on your situation. You may return to your former occupation, move into a new role with your employer, start work elsewhere or train for a new job. Your insurance may help cover these steps and provide the support, tools and training needed to move into work that fits your abilities. In addition, If you need disability-related accommodations to help you return to work, your insurer can also help start those conversations with your employer.
