Trending toward a stronger future
For more than 140 years, the companies of OneAmerica® have been an integral part of the Indianapolis community. Homegrown talent has been a factor in our success, and in return, we strive to give back to our neighbors through multiple sustainable projects, including the OneAmerica Pathways Program.
The Pathways Program was introduced in 2018 in response to the shortage of good jobs in central Indiana. That year, a Brookings Institution report showed that only 35% of central Indiana workers without bachelor’s degrees held good or promising jobs. Through Pathways, we’re taking steps to reverse that trend by building and strengthening our local workforce and encouraging other companies and organizations to do the same.
One of the steps we're taking is the Pathways Junior Fellows program. Each summer, high school students and recent graduates are selected to spend summer break learning about OneAmerica, the financial services industry and what it takes to engage and be accountable at work. Program participants have discovered potential careers in areas they might never have considered otherwise, and we’ve identified individuals who could eventually join our team.
OneAmerica Scholars Program
In 2021, OneAmerica launched the Scholars Program to offer college students a way to earn money while enrolled in school. As part-time OneAmerica employees, Scholars are paired with a mentor and given opportunities to learn skills and discover strengths that contribute to success in their studies and future careers.
Pathways partners: Do you know a student who may have an interest in the financial services industry and who might be a good fit for the OneAmerica Junior Fellows Program? Please complete the Student Nomination Form below and submit it to pathways@oneamerica.com.
Expanding beyond OneAmerica
We’re eager to share Pathways’ successes and opportunities with other businesses – in Indianapolis and beyond – and inspire them to develop similar workforce programs.
