OneAmerica Financial announces new board leadership as Sue Ellspermann becomes lead independent director

OneAmerica Financial today announced that former Indiana Lieutenant Governor and Ivy Tech Community College President Sue Ellspermann has been appointed lead independent director of its board. She succeeds Allison Melangton, senior vice president at Penske Entertainment Corp., who has completed her term as lead director and will remain on the board as an at-large director.

Ellspermann brings a substantial record of civic and business impact and strategic growth to the role. As Indiana lieutenant governor, she oversaw key transportation and infrastructure initiatives and led agricultural trade missions to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China. Before retiring from Ivy Tech in 2025, she led the college through significant enrollment gains, major expansions in nursing and workforce programs, and transformative partnerships — including a $15 million Eli Lilly and Company initiative to build Indiana’s advanced manufacturing talent pipeline.

Melangton, an iconic figure in Indiana sports and civic leadership, served six years as lead independent director for OneAmerica Financial. Her leadership helped guide the company through a period of modernization and cultural alignment. Her tenure at Penske Entertainment and her extensive background with the Indianapolis sports community — including her role as CEO of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee — highlight her ongoing contributions across the state.
