OneAmerica Financial® kicks off 13th annual Week of Caring
Thousands of volunteer service hours contributed each year in weeklong event
INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 26, 2026)
OneAmerica Financial® continues a yearly tradition of dedicating a workweek of volunteer service to its local communities.
Hundreds of associates are assisting 26 nonprofits during the 13th annual Week of Caring. Through both in-person and virtual activities, OneAmerica Financial associates are volunteering their time this week to support the organization’s community commitment.
“Week of Caring is a powerful reflection of our values in action,” said Kim Thomas, chief human resources officer for OneAmerica Financial. “Each year, our associates come together to share their time, talents and compassion with organizations that strengthen our communities. Whether volunteering in person or virtually, their commitment helps create meaningful change and reinforces our purpose of helping people and communities thrive.”
While most volunteer opportunities are in communities in which its associates live and work, those working in other locations throughout the country may also volunteer for virtual activities benefiting national organizations. Most volunteer sites are in the Indianapolis area.
Week of Caring is conducted in collaboration with nonprofit organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Dress for Success Indianapolis, Habitat for Humanity, Million Meal Movement and Wheeler Mission, to name a few. Additionally, associates can participate in the IndyHumane Pat-A-Pet event and an American Red Cross blood drive. Virtual volunteer opportunities are also available through the American Red Cross and Indiana Battle of the Books.
Last year 655 associates gave more than 2,000 hours to support 27 community partners, and they mapped over 237,000 locations across the country for the American Red Cross. Week of Caring is part of a broader associate-driven philanthropic effort that also includes the OneAmerica Financial Cares Giving Campaign. It starts in September and runs through mid-October. In 2025 the campaign raised more than $589,000 to invest into communities across the country.
In 2014 the organization became the first in central Indiana to devote an entire workweek to volunteer service. Every year associates collaborate with their colleagues in an immersive, community-focused effort that benefits others.
