OneAmerica sponsorship at IU Natatorium includes support for upgrades to athlete, spectator experience
New 12-year agreement includes venue signage, interactive enhancements
Indianapolis, June 27, 2017
The IU Natatorium at IUPUI today announced a 12-year sponsorship agreement with OneAmerica® for the West Concourse area of the iconic swimming facility. Frequent host to national and international competitions, the nation’s largest indoor aquatic facility has received upgrades that ensure its record-setting reputation is maintained for both swimming and diving events.
Having recently undergone a $20 million renovation, the Natatorium is the fastest pool in the country, and it is now among the most modern. It continues to be a favorite venue not only for Olympic trials and NCAA championship competitions, but also for community programming and local swimming events. More than 200,000 swimmers, divers and their families access the facility each year.
“As part of the fabric of this community, the Natatorium serves as a resource for all ages—from water babies to master swimmers, and today’s announcement reinforces our deep connection to the Indianapolis community,” said IUPUI Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar (right in photo to the left). “We are grateful to Scott Davison and OneAmerica for their longstanding support of this world-class facility and of the university more broadly.”
“Our sponsorship at the IU Natatorium reflects our community commitment over the past 140 years, as we’re proud to support Indianapolis and what makes our city unique,” said Scott Davison (left in photo above), President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of OneAmerica. “The IU Natatorium stands as symbol for outstanding competition, record performances and aspirational goals, and its broad visibility brings valuable exposure and economic impact to our city and state. The venue is a first-class facility, and our goal is to enhance the experience and enjoyment for spectators and athletes at every level of competition.”
The branding components of the sponsorship include digital messaging, concourse signage and a smaller replica of the popular OneAmerica signboard. The signboard, a fixture of OneAmerica corporate offices since 1958, is one of the company’s legacy community activities.
The Natatorium is currently hosting the USA Swimming National Championships and World Championship Trials through this weekend and is anticipating 700 athletes and an estimated 2,000 spectators for the event. Davison, a long-time swimming coach and Indiana Sports Corporation board member, will also be presenting medals in the event finals tonight.
