OneAmerica’s response to the coronavirus, COVID-19 outbreak

When the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declared the new coronavirus, COVID-19, a public health emergency on Jan. 31, 2020, OneAmerica began evaluating and responding to the situation.

As a company, we are prepared to maintain operations, should the situation escalate. Our business continuity team, which operates year-round to ensure we're ready for any kind of event, is monitoring the latest information and planning daily.

Knowing that this situation will continue to evolve over the coming weeks, we want to make sure you're aware of the steps we're taking to protect our associates, customers and assets.

Monitoring and governance: Our business continuity and emergency communications teams have activated our pandemic response plan and are adjusting as needed, based on the information we are receiving from government and business organizations.

Safety and security: We are following the guidance of the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local health officials as we institute recommended preventive measures. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations in public areas and meeting spaces
  • Signage throughout our facilities reminding of WHO preventive guidelines
  • Creation of an associate news portal dedicated to COVID-19 news and recommendation updates
  • Remote working protocols have been activated to increase social distancing while maintaining business operations

Travel guidance: We are postponing nonessential business travel, and we have temporarily halted international business travel. We are evaluating scheduled meetings and events on a case-by-case basis and will notify attendees of alternate plans.

Business operations: Operations are currently functioning normally given this unprecedented pandemic crisis. We have instituted remote working contingencies to protect our associates while continuing to support business needs.

Vendor operations: Our key third party vendors have not reported an impact from the COVID-19 outbreak. We are validating this information daily, as well as their response plans should an event occur.

Communications planning: We have communications strategies in place to quickly share updates with partners and customers as events dictate.
