OneAmerica National Education Conference draws record attendance

Hundreds of producers travel to Indianapolis for 5th annual NEC

Indianapolis -- November 18, 2006

Producers in the insurance and financial services industry hungry for knowledge and fresh product information, left OneAmerica's 2006 National Education Conference (NEC) full of new ideas and ready to "Drive their Knowledge."

More than 730 producers from 37 states attended 50 workshops at the three-day event held in Indianapolis, IN Sept. 27-29. Most workshops offered continuing education credits and all of them contributed to the common goal of educating OneAmerica company producers, equipping them with the knowledge necessary to continue to improve the way they conduct business. Workshops offered topics on market trends, technology, bird flu, compliance, products and resources, engaging attendees in open dialogue with other industry professionals.

At a time when training and education are sometimes a lower priority and often viewed as too great of an expense by many companies in the insurance and financial services industry, the companies of OneAmerica are proud to be able to facilitate education and focus on the producer.

"At OneAmerica, we view our NEC as an investment," said Dayton Molendorp, OneAmerica President and CEO. "I like to think that we are helping producers be students of the business and are proud to help them learn more about the important issues they – as well as their customers – face today."

OneAmerica's NEC addressed critical issues like Health Care and Retirement and the possible solutions that the OneAmerica companies' product lines bring to the table. (Retirement, Employee Benefits, Stop Loss, Life Insurance and Long-Term Care).

Attendees enjoyed an entertaining and motivating guest Speaker lineup. Guy Kawasaki, former Apple exec shared some best practices. Racing legend, Michael Andretti motivated producers to "start their engines" and comedian, Ross Shafer offered amusing, motivational comedy for all to enjoy.

This year was the 5th annual NEC and is the second year for all three divisions (Individual, AUL Employee Benefits and AUL Retirement Services) to participate. The conference is hosted in Indianapolis, the location of OneAmerica’s corporate headquarters, every other year. Next year's NEC will be August 28-30 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, TX. Planning begins a year in advance to host an event of this size with 300 volunteers and 60 sponsors and exhibitors working around-the-clock to make this conference a world-class experience and to underscore the OneAmerica companies' commitment to producers.
