Indianapolis (Aug. 22, 2008) – The OneAmerica Corporate Communications department has received an Excellent Performance in Communication (EPIC) Award from the Indianapolis chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. The company received an Award of Honor in the category of Electronic and Digital Communication for its work in implementing “Channel OneAmerica.”
Designed to enhance communication and engagement for the OneAmerica enterprise’s 1,600 employees, Channel OneAmerica is an internal digital signage system featuring 17 large screen flat panel displays that are integrated within five separate OneAmerica company locations. All sites are maintained on a LAN-based network in Indianapolis. The department works with OneAmerica’s companies and their divisions to create, edit and deploy content to all locations from a PC. The system was engineered and installed by Indianapolis-based Sensory Technologies.
“This is an exciting accomplishment for OneAmerica that really validates our success in meeting our business objectives,” said Brian Lauber, vice president and chief marketing officer. “Channel OneAmerica has allowed us to better inform and educate employees about the enterprise’s progress and successes, the financial services industry along with opportunities and benefits.”
According to data from Sensory Technologies, there are only ten known companies in the Midwest region that leverage digital signage systems as part of their overall communications strategy. Of the 10 organizations, OneAmerica is central Ind.’s largest corporate user. While other companies in the seven-county area have moved to include digital signage, OneAmerica’s unique messaging comes from many sources, such as a real time stock ticker, live Web updates, video, cable television or text messages.
Since the implementation of Channel OneAmerica in July 2007, OneAmerica has seen an increased level of employee participation in company-sponsored events and activities.
“Without question, Channel OneAmerica played a major role in the success of last year’s Employee United Way Campaign,” said Jim Freeman, OneAmerica’s vice president of community affairs. “The stories, photos and messages we were able to run throughout the workday served as a gentle reminder to our people, and we experienced significant increases in employee participation and total dollars contributed – despite a waning economy and increases in local property taxes."
